Drive Traffic On Your Site with SEO

Getting people to visit your Web site can often be a difficult task, especially if your Web site is small. There are several main things you need to consider, and things you need to do, if you are hoping to get some traffic to your Web site. These are not the only things you can do to get traffic to your Web site, but they are a good start.

  • Keywords - Decide what your page is going to be about and write the page around that keyword or keyword phrase. If your page is going to be about cat collars, then make sure you use the phrase "cat collars" several times while writing the page, especially in the first couple paragraphs.
  • Title & Meta Tags - When considering a title for your page make sure to use the keyword or key phrase of your page in the title. If you are using HTML, then you need to be concerned with meta tags. Make sure to use your keywords in the meta description several times, and the title tags at the top of your HTML at least twice, and put the keyword in the meta keyword area too.
  • Good Content - If your page is about something important, is written well, and includes the right keywords it will probably do well in the search engines. On top of search engines, other sites will also link to your page if it is well written.
  • Similar Web Sites - Find Web sites that are similar to yours and offer to link to their site in exchange for a link back to your site. If they have a page for links they will probably do it.
  • Search Engines - Submit your pages to the most popular search engines. Go to each of the search engines and submit your pages to them individually.
  • Forums & Message Boards - Go to forums and message boards that are about your site and answer questions or offer advice or even ask questions. Create a signature under your name for your message posts that links back to your site. If people like what you wrote on the forum, they may click on your link and visit your site.
  • Update Regularly - If you don't add content to your site, then why should someone keep coming back. Update your site regularly with new content and watch your traffic grow.

Google SandBox Algorithm and Search Engine Ranking

Google sandbox algorithm has been one of the most controversial topic of discussion in the SEO world. Though it is not established, it’s effect is palpable as reported by web master. We know that backlinks (external sites linking to a particular site) play a vital role in SERP (search engine page) and page rank of a site. Earlier, new sites with quality back links used to boost their search engine ranking, soon after their inception. But, as always after changing of algorithm by Google, this is not happening anymore. There is dampened link juice pass after algorithm change.

What is Sandbox?

According to perception a new site, in the sandbox will not rank well for the relevant and competitive keywords in comparison to aged domain. Although there is good SEO and quality content in the new site, it'll suffer out of bad SERP.
A new site might rank well for a limited time period. But, soon there will be a drop in organic traffic (traffic from search engine). The concept behind this is, with initial boost in the ranking, it will gain backlinks with quality content. Otherwise, this will take a much longer time to rank well.

How to know if site has been Sandboxed?

* Does Google bot accesses your site frequently ?
* Does the site rank well on other search engines like Yahoo or Bing ?
* Does the site features unique and quality content ?
* Have you applied good white hat SEO tactics to the site ?
* Do you see a huge difference in the result for allinanchor:keyword and general search of the keyword ?

If the answer to the entire questions given above is yes, then your site has been probably Sandboxed.

How to tackle Sandboxing?

* You can buy an aged domain with PR (more than 4 or 5).So that you won't have worry a lot about backlinks and sandboxing. All you have to do is to get some quality content and clean SEO approach. While buying these domains, stay away from the ones with dropped PR. One thing is that, their price will be high.

* Other than that, you can optimize your site with long tail keywords. With some smart SEO you can jump into top 10 of SERP for long tail keywords.

* Try to get some one way backlinks from high authority websites.

* For primary keywords you can drive traffic from Hubpage or Squidoo lenses. They rank well for some competitive keywords. Only thing you have to make sure that your Hubs and Lenses share hot keywords/tags of relevant Hubs or Lenses.

* Before creating your site you can check competition for specific keywords from Google Adwords Keyword Tool. The fully filled green box shows that, particular keyword is highly competitive and there are enough sites in the queue.

Link building has to be done in a steady and not too fast manner. Any anomaly can make search engines flag your site. So, patience will be best policy in this hurdle.
